John Eckelkamp Obituary

John "Jack" P. Eckelkamp, 89 Labadie, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, in Washington.

Jack, son of the late William A. Eckelkamp and wife Mary, nee Straatmann, was born Oct. 7, 1924, in Washington. He was united in marriage to Marion Wilding July 18, 1953, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Washington.

Jack is survived by six children, Karen Doorack and husband Leonard, Elaine Eckelkamp, all of Labadie, David Eckelkamp and wife Judy, New Haven, Joyce McGee and husband Bob, Diane Holdmeyer and husband Alex, all of Washington, and Becky Snider, Kirkwood; one brother, William "Woody" Eckelkamp and wife Helen, Villa Ridge; 13 grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Eckelkamp; two grandchildren, Julie Doorack and Lindsey Doorack; parents, William A. and Mary Eckelkamp; and seven siblings, Louis B. Eckelkamp, Fr. Joseph Eckelkamp, Fr. David Eckelkamp, Rose Shay, Martha Puzauski, Sister Miriam Jo Eckelkamp and Cecelia Eckelkamp.

Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at Miller Funeral Home, Washington.

A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 21, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Villa Ridge.

Interment followed at the church cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Julie Doorack Memorial Scholarship Fund or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

The Eckelkamp family was served by Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
