Kenneth Gildehaus Obituary

Kenneth Alphonse Gildehaus, 71, Washington, passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, in Washington.

Kenneth was born March 23, 1945, in Rolla, the son of the late Alphonse H. Gildehaus and wife, Edna, nee Durbin. On July 29, 1967, Kenneth was united in marriage to Miss Carolyn Horn, at St. John the Baptist Church-Gildehaus. Kenneth retired as maintenance supervisor at Gatesworth at One McKnight Place in Ladue. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and the Washington Elks Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseback riding, woodworking, gardening and horse and buggy restoration.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Gildehaus, Washington; one son, Tim Gildehaus and wife Christine, St. Charles; one daughter, Jennifer Joerling and husband Jason, New Melle; five grandchildren, Jamie Joerling, Janna Joerling, Julia Joerling, Samuel Gildehaus and Emily Gildehaus; one sister, Kathy Henslee and husband Dave, Union; two brothers, Lawrence Gildehaus and wife Carol, Augusta, and Ronald Gildehaus and wife Cindy, Holstein; other relatives and friends.

A memorial Mass was celebrated Friday, March 3, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church-Gildehaus, with the Rev. Tim Foy officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The Gildehaus family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington.
