Mary Mohart Obituary

Mary Alice Mohart, nee Mansfield, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022, surrounded by family and engulfed in love. She recently celebrated her 80th birthday.

Mary left this world as she lived - with a house full of life, laughter, music, food, wine, stories and cherished memories. Her children and grandchildren were her highest priority, and Mary and her husband, John, sacrificed so much to provide the best life and opportunities for their family, especially regarding education. Mary was a proud graduate of St. Joseph's Academy and St. Louis University, before working as a speech pathologist.

Mary's 80th birthday party, less than two weeks ago, was a packed house filled with family and friends. She was always the life of the party, ready to dance, sing Jimmy Buffett, offer a seat at her table and ask about others before talking about herself (and remembering those details with uncanny accuracy).

We will remember her grace, beauty, selflessness, loyalty, grit, joyfulness, quick wit, tireless devotion to family and how much she loved each and every one of us. We are profoundly grateful knowing that her love lives on.

Mary was the beloved wife of 50 years to the late John K. Mohart; dearest mother and mother-in-law of Dr. Teresa (Dr. Robert) Halsted, Dr. John (Dr. Ann Elizabeth) Mohart, Janie (Joe) Leahy, the late Dr. David Mohart, Dr. Gina (Dr. Brian) Seeck, and Mary Elizabeth (Steve) Bolla; beloved grandmother of Dr. Corinne Halsted (Dr. Paul Panasiuk), Cassandra (Brandon) Guehne, Chelsea and Robert Halsted, Hunter, Mansfield, Arabella and Adora Mohart, Kate, Jenna, and Allison Leahy, Ava and Olivia Mohart, Sam and Natalie Bolla; dearest sister to Dale, William, Richard, David, Thomas and Mark Mansfield, and Kathy Phillips; sister-in-law to Ann, Marie, Peggy, Judy, Linda, and Vicki Mansfield, LaDonna Childers, Gayle Massen and David Phillips; and a beloved aunt and dear friend of many.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Earl and Alice Mansfield; her son, David; and five of her brothers.

A celebration of life Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Washington.

Memorial donations can be made to Mercy Health Foundation Washington.
