Melvin Feldmann Obituary

Melvin Earl Feldmann, 67, Washington, passed away Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021.

Melvin, son of the late Leroy Feldmann and wife Catherine, nee Rohe, was born Jan. 15, 1954, in Washington. He received his education at Washington High School and graduated in 1972. He was united in marriage to Barbara Spaunhorst Oct. 4, 1975, at St. Francis Borgia Church. The couple made their home in Washington, and the marriage was blessed with three sons.

Melvin worked as a service manager at Barreth Ford/Schicker Ford starting in 1986. He retired from there in 2014 after being diagnosed with ALS. He was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Krakow and the Knights of Columbus in Washington. Melvin was a classic car enthusiast and liked Ford Mustangs in particular. He enjoyed working with his sons restoring classic Ford cars. He was a loving husband and father who always put family first. He will be greatly missed.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Barbara Feldmann, Washington; three sons, Steve Feldmann and wife Amanda, Union, Derek Feldmann, and Brian Feldmann and wife Emily, all of Washington; two grandchildren, Benjamin and Megan; five sisters, Marilyn Crane and husband Larry, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Marcelyn Mohesky and husband Roy, Melinda Holdmeier and husband Harry, Melanie Whited and husband Bob, and Melissa Czeschin and husband Rodney, all of Washington; one brother, Murrill Feldmann and significant other Annette Frerking, Washington; his mother-in-law, Dolores Cramer, Washington; stepfather-in-law, Harvey Cramer; three sisters-in-law, Debbie Sullentrup and husband Tom, Brenda Jasper and husband Jim, all of Washington, and Vicki Logan and husband Kevin, New Haven; one brother-in-law, Mike Spaunhorst and wife Joleen, Washington; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, godchildren and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Catherine Feldmann, and his father-in-law, Victor Spaunhorst.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 3-8 p.m. at Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington, with a rosary service at 2:45 p.m.

A funeral Mass was held Thursday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m. at St. Gertrude Church, Krakow, with the Rev. Carl Scheble officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Gertrude Church or the ALS Association.

The Feldmann family was served by Oltmann Funeral home, Washington.
