Rita Borcherding Obituary

Rita Ann Borcherding, 86, of New Haven, Missouri, passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024, at New Haven Care Center.

Rita was born in Washington, Missouri, on March 20, 1938, the daughter of the late Walter G. and Evelyn (Maune) Branson. She was the widow of Clyde H. Borcherding. They were united in marriage on April 30, 1960, at Assumption Church in New Haven. Together they shared almost 60 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on May 21, 2019.

Rita was a member of Assumption Church in New Haven. She worked as a seamstress for Kellwood Manufacturing in New Haven and Children's Factory in Union. In her free time she enjoyed doing puzzles, crafts, and gardening in her flower beds, and she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rita is survived by two daughters, Wuanita Gillig (Bob), of Hermann, MO, and Pam Schroeder (Kurt), of New Haven, MO; a son, Jeff Borcherding, of New Haven, MO; grandchildren, Dillon Borcherding (Emily), of New Haven, MO, Taurie Schroeder (Jacob), of Defiance, MO, Dalton Gillig (Emily), of Hermann, MO, Kayla Clines (Mathew), Dakota Schroeder (Devin), all of New Haven, MO, and Levi Schroeder (Mackenze), of Canyon, TX; by six great-grandchildren, Jameson, Roslynn, Lennon, Elena, Mason, and Fern; her siblings, Wanda Pottebaum, of Washington, MO, Gerald "Fuzzy" Branson (Kathryn), of Marthasville, MO, Donna Thompson, of New Haven, MO, Dennis Branson (Virginia), of Washington, MO, Velma Faye Thomure (Roger), of Rosebud, MO, Ron Branson (Karen), of New Haven, MO, Don Branson (Rosie), of Berger, MO; and other family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Gary and David Borcherding; her brother and sisters, Fern Juedemann, Walter Branson Jr., Jane Theissen, Rosie Dunakey, Betty Lee Branson, and Linda Luecke.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Assumption Church, New Haven.

Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Alzheimer's Association.
