Derek Dalla Betta Obituary
La Jolla, CA
It is with great sadness that we announce that Derek died unexpectedly in San Diego in June 2021. Born in Inglewood, grew up in Westchester, moved to San Diego shortly after graduation from Loyola High School.
He was gregarious, generous, and selfless, always ready to help friends and family with anything. He was smart and witty, sentimental and independent-minded. A Raiders fan, champion dart player, avid reader of mysteries and Hemingway, a creative cook, Derek loved animals and enjoyed fond memories of Hobie Cat racing at Huntington Lake.
He was cherished by friends far and wide, from Los Angeles, San Diego, Arizona, Florida, and beyond. Well liked and appreciated by his BKM Officeworks colleagues and their clients in San Diego, Derek was known for his dedication, work ethic, and relationship-building strengths.
Derek is survived by his mother Logan Dalla Betta of Los Angeles; his father Jeff Dalla Betta (Susie) of Encino; his older brother Stephen (Katherine) of Boulder, CO; nieces Isabella and Francesca; grandmother Norma of Somis, CA. He also leaves his two younger siblings Joey and Katie Dalla Betta.
He was beloved by his entire extended family and the many kids who knew him as "Uncle Derek". He will be missed by his family, his many friends, and all those who had the good fortune of knowing him.
