James Burr Stewart
passed away May 27, 2021 at the age of 69. He leaves: son Daniel James Stewart, daughter-in-law Rachel, and granddaughters Alice and Josephine; son Scott Carlisle Stewart and daughter-in-law Sarah; sister Phoebe Markley; nieces Rachel and Morgan; and his long-time friend Moreen Fielden.Jim was born April 3, 1952 in Pittsburgh, PA, to Priscilla Burr (Markley) and Carlisle Stewart, who predeceased him.He was a graduate of Clairemont High School (Class of 1970) and San Diego State University (Class of 1977). He served as an administrator at La Jolla Country Day School, the Gillispie School, and the Children's School from 1985 to 2003. A lover of reading and writing, Jim volunteered at the La Jolla Library after retirement. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the La Jolla-Riford Library. We are so very sad to hear of Jim's passing. We both worked with him at The Gillispie School and remained friends long afterward. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to Moreen and his family. Jim was a wonderful man.

We are saddened to read of Jim's death. He was always a friend, positive, cheerful, a person that we looked forward to meeting at the library or walking in La Jolla. He made a real effort to be kind, considerate, and gracious to everyone. The world was and remains a better place that he gave his best.
