I am a member of the Seekers Sunday school class. Joel taught our class recently and he is everything everyone said, gentle, kind, Christian, example... On Sunday morning when we heard the ambulance come, we stopped our lesson and said a prayer for the person and family (unknown to us at the time). May his survivors be comforted to know that many Christians were with him and praying for him when he breathed his last. He was a blessing and may you be blessed by your memories.

Boyd, you know how special your dad was to me. He was truly one of the kindest, gentlest, most decent people I have ever known. I'm so sorry he's gone, and I know we'll all miss him terribly.

I worked for Mr. Murphree many years ago at DOE and I truly was blessed by knowing such a true southern gentleman with a genuine Christian heart. The last time I saw him, he was in a doctor's office as a volunteer driver for a cancer patient having chemotherapy. He was always a giver and doer of good deeds for everyone. While our world is diminished with his death, it was certainly enriched by his life.
May each tear that falls be a gentle reminder of what Mr. Murphree meant to so many and especially to each of you. No amount of sorrow, time or distance can ever take those memories away.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Murphree family at this time of loss. I played baseball at Leon High School with Joey and have thought about his passing many times in the past 30 odd years. May God be with your family.
