John C. Koenig of Roswell, NM and Estes Park, CO passed away on June 27, 2018, in Carlsbad, NM at age 73. A family service was held at Assumption Church in Roswell. A private burial service will be held in Estes Park in July. He is survived by his children: LeeAnn Williams (Laurence), Matthew Koenig (Sara), Emily Eldred (Jeffrey); four grandchildren: Meredith and Elizabeth Williams, and Madeleine and Maximilian Koenig; his companion Diana Marshall; his sister Joan Polzin; two nieces; and an aunt and uncle. John was born in Washington, D.C., grew up in St. Petersburg, FL and attended the University of Pennsylvania where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in Chemical Engineering. He worked as a chemical engineer for Gulf Oil. He was a 50-year member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. In the 1980s he studied at the University of Denver where he earned his MA in Religious Studies. John enjoyed John LeCarre books, cars, film noir and taking 17-mile walks in 100 degree heat at noon in New Mexico. He loved the Rocky Mountains and his home in Estes Park. In all endeavors, his creativity was matched only by his attention to detail.
