Dear Pam,

We've been out of email touch for the past week so are just now checking our emails. Stuart and I are so very sorry to hear about Charles, but appreciate your sending the news on to us. We are grateful that we were able to meet Charles that one time in Erie. We enjoyed him then and enjoyed so much seeing you again. Our thoughts and love are with you during this very difficult time. We'll give you a little time and will call to catch up.

Dear Pam,
You are right it is a small world running into you at the Pilly airport and how ironic it was for the same reasons. Its been a long last couple of weeks as it has been for you as well. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family, he was a good man with a great sence of humor:)

June 23, 2008

Dear Pam,

Neil just called me with the very sad news of Chuck's passing. We are in shock – and we know your heart must be breaking.

My sadness is for you now Pam, as Chuck is hopefully in a place where there is no longer pain or grief or sadness. He left this world knowing that you were always there for him and loved him dearly. I'm so sorry that he (and you) had to be in such anguish for such a long time.

I hope and pray that you find the strength and love from your friends and family to get through this time in your life when your shoulders are laden with such woes.

I know our paths crossed but a few times, but you and Chuck made an indelible mark in my life. I shall always hear Chuck's infectious laughter, always looking on the positive side of life, finding humor when others might have found negativity. I know Neil, who is not one for sharing his emotions, treasured his friendship and partnership with Chuck and will miss him so much.

Our home, thanks to you and Chuck, is filled with wonderful reminders of your travels (and extreme generosity to us). We shall treasure these even more now.

Again, please let us know if we can be of help in any way.

You are in our thoughts, our hearts, and our home.

With much affection.

Your friends always,

KERIN (REDMOND) MCGOVERN

Dear Dailey Cousins:
I was so sorry to hear about your Dad's (Uncle Chuck's) death. I know it was a tough go for him with cancer, especially at the end, and for all of you as well. Having gone through this recently myself, with the death of my Dad, I know it isn't easy. However, I am grateful that I had some time to be with him before his death, even if it was only a month, it somewhat prepared me for the inevitable. I realize that my Dad, Amby, would not have wanted to live on this earth, unless he was in good health and knowing your Dad, he'd feel the same way.

I have fond memories of visiting Erie many times for weddings, but the one trip that makes me think of your Dad, was when I was returning to Boston, after having lived in Chicago. My brother Greg and I stopped off in Erie, for a night, on our way home. Your parents were wonderful hosts, as always. However, I'll never forget going down in the basement on State Street to the big black vault and your Dad pouring a bunch of diamonds in my hand. Wow, a girl's dream, as well a fond memory of my Uncle Chuck!

In reading your Dad's obituary, I was overwhelmed with all of his accomplishments and shared them with my husband, Billy and our children who were equally impressed. We told our children, Connor & Regan, to "reach for the stars" and perhaps go to Georgetown like Uncle Chuck. You can be sure that Uncle Chuck made his parents and family proud.

At times like these we realize how important family is and that we are all here, whether near or far, for each other to lean on. (Thanks for being there for The Redmond's last fall. We'll never forget it!) I love y'all and my thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time. We hope you can come some year for the 4th of July Galvin Cousin Party at Cape Cod!
Lots of Love, Cousin KERIN

To the Dailey children,
I was sorry to read about the death of Mr. Dailey. My late father, Dr. Michael Sivak used to enjoy his conversations and sharing ideas with him. My late great aunt Elisabeth Mentz was both the assistant to Mr. Dailey, Sr. and Charles, Jr.
May it be some comfort to know many people extend their sympathy at the loss of your father.

Dear Dailey Family,
Chuck was a giant among men. He was a loyal friend, respected leader, great competitor, enthusiastic and accomplished athlete, and a gifted teacher. We will miss the times we shared including Knight of Malta functions and lobster dinners.

June 7, 2008

I wish to convey my most sincere condolences to the entire Daily families in Florida and Erie area.

It is with great sadness that I learned of the Death of Charles A. Daily Jr. ~ Charlie and I were next store neighbors on W 24th Street (#1017 and #1015) back in the early 1930. We played together and graduated in the same class at Sacred Heart School in 1945. Since these earlier years we had several meetings at school reunions where we all tried to fill in a few of the time gaps over the years. Charlie was known for his many activities in southern Florida, and his early passing is extremely hard for all to accept. I feel most honored to have played marbles with Charlie during his early years, knowing well that his momentum was unmatchable!

Charlie Jr. is now rejoicing in the heavens with Ma, Pa and other families’ members. Now it is a time for Joyous Celebrations and for us to realizing that this was a trail through life that only a few can ever achieve.
