Elayne Comi Obituary

Elayne Ann LoRe Comi, age 88, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at LECOM Senior Living Center surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on October 10, 1930 in Erie, daughter of the late Benjamin A. and Rose Pace LoRe.

Elayne was a founding member of Our Lady of Peace Church, the church's Rosary and Altar Society and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Armand J. Comi.

She is survived by three sons, Keith Comi (Patricia), Mark Comi (Sharon) and Matthew Comi (Deanne), all of Erie; five grandchildren, Paul Comi (Stephanie), Laura Nelsen (Matthew), Zachary, Rachel, and Alexander Comi, all of Erie; and great-grandson, Connor Nelsen, of Erie. Elayne always had a beaming smile to greet others; she made her family feel like they were her sunshine on a cloudy Erie day. She was quiet by nature, but always eager to hear family stories and be the hub of family news sharing. She always showed the lady-like gracefulness that she learned at Villa Maria.

She was a woman of deep faith and dedication to her family that she was so proud of. She taught them many traditions and leaves a legacy of cherished memories. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and tended to a shrine in her backyard as long as she was able. She was a woman who showed great determination to achieve goals, as best exemplified by persevering to living her life out at her home. She was a devoted homemaker, always eager to share her latest kitchen treats and recipes with her family. She was, after all, the best mom/nana and greatest cook. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, like getting sponge candy or pizzelles from her kids or a ride to Presque Isle. A visit to Sara's for an orange/vanilla twist was always an extra delight, especially when she could spot one of her grandkids working there. Picnics at the East Pier and soaking in the sunshine while watching the boats sail by were also special delights. Her greatest joys were attending as many of her grandchildrens' games and activities as possible. Her proudest moments were family graduations & weddings. Her family missed her and that beaming smile deeply this Christmas and always will.

She was and always will be loved as she looks upon us from heaven.

No public visitation was observed and private services and burial at Calvary Cemetery were at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to Emmaus Ministries, 345 E. 9th St., Erie, PA 16503.
