Joe Ott Obituary
Joe was admired and respected for his many talents and traits. His strength, faith, and sense of humor were an inspiration to everyone he met. A 1960 graduate of Cathedral Prep, he then attended Columbus College of Arts and Design. He was a gifted football running back and all-around athlete at Cathedral Prep. An accomplished artist, Joe was a self-taught gun smith, thermo-plastic designer, machinist and woodcarver. He was a nature lover, an avid trap and skeet shooter, and was well-known for his renowned "Joe Ott crow call."
Survivors include Laura, his wife of 54 years, and children, Lisa Petrone (Jim), Joe, David (Krista), Patrick (Lucy), and grandchildren, Stephanie, Angelo, Anthony, Lucia, Christina, Frankie Petrone, and Maria Petrone Sobish (Eric), Megan Ott-Romero (Vicente), Lauren, Joseph Ott, Benjamin, Joey, and Anna Ott, and Kyle and Olyvia Ott. He is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Leena, mother-in-law, Millie Fatica, and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo Cash, Ethel (Markham Cash) Ott, stepfather, Bernard J. Ott and infant daughter, Frances.
Joe's family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, emergency and medical services personnel, and care givers for their years of assistance, especially Dr. Michael Keating, Alice Lynn, Jackie Broadway and Dr. Joe Leone. They also would like to express gratitude to the many family members and friends for their continuous concern and support.
Visitation will be held at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St., and Greengarden Blvd., Erie, PA 16508. Calling hours are 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2018. The 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16506, will be followed by a private burial at Trinity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CLL Global Research Foundation, Attn.: Dr. Michael J. Keating, Unit 428, P.O. Box 301402, Houston, Texas 77230-1402, and/or Cathedral Preparatory School, 225 West 9th Street, Erie, PA 16501.

My sister, Patty Griffin Ostrowski, is visiting Dean and I in Arizona. We were looking at the Erie obits online and noticed Joe's. We were saddened to read of your loss. To everyone in the Family of Joe Ott,
So sorry to hear of his passing, and he will be remembered as a soft-spoken person who always had a friendly word to say, was knowledgeable in many areas, loved the great outdoors, was an excellent athlete (drafted by or worked out with The Browns?), was the consummate family man, a great friend to many, and I remember he and Laura were Best friends with Ellie and Hal Howard as far back as I can remember, and the families were close as well. He touched a multitude of lives in a very positive way, and I feel privileged to have had the opportunities to be around him and make his acquaintance. He will be sorely missed, and our thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences go out to all of you at this time of loss and sadness.
