John Leone Obituary

John A. Leone John A. Leone, age 83, a resident of Erie passed away Saturday February 7, 2009 at the Golden Living Center-Western Reserve surrounded by his loving family. John was born May 23, 1925 in Rocca Pia, Italy the son of the late Pasquale and Maria Amicucci Leone. John served with the U.S. Army during WW II, and for 20 years worked with the U.S. Postal Service as a mail handler retiring in 1978. He was a member of St. Paul's RC Church and also belonged to their Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Zukor club and the Giuseppe Mazzini Association. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son John Leone, Jr. and a sister, Isabelle Traut. John is survived by his loving wife Viola Cavicchio Leone along with a daughter, Mary Baniszewski and her husband Robert of Manchester, Conn. He is the brother of Cornelia D'Aurora and the grandfather of Megan, Ryan & Mandy Baniszewski and Christopher and Nicole Leone. Also surviving is a daughter-in-law, Deborah Leone along with several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul's RC Church.
