Michael Guzzardo Obituary

Dr. Michael N. Guzzardo On June 13, 2008 Dr. Michael N. Guzzardo, 57, died suddenly at home. Our Dad was born on May 11, 1951 in Jamestown, N.Y. to George and Millie Guzzardo. His father preceded him in death in August 1995. He is survived by his mother Millie Guzzardo of Amite, La.; his brother, Dr. George Guzzardo, Jr. and his wife Shirley of New Orleans, La.; his sister Angela Biandolillo and her husband Ross of Amite, La. Those also mourning his loss include his four children, Michael Guzzardo, Rachel Guzzardo, Gary Guzzardo, Sarah Lander and her husband, Jeff. Grandchildren Emily and Aiden will miss him as will his many nieces and nephews. Dad graduated from Jamestown High School then served in the United States Navy as a Medical Corpsman in Vietnam. He continued his education at Jamestown Community College and graduated from SUNY at Fredonia. In 1982 he earned his medical degree from LSU at New Orleans. After completing his residency at Hamot Medical Center he became Board Certified in both Family Practice and Emergency Medicine. Over the years his intuitive approach to medicine saved many lives and by always practicing medicine with compassion and kindness he will always be remembered above all else as “a hell of a Doctor.” His incredible sense of humor will be missed as will the sounds of his own music coming from the piano as he played it. A gifted musician he played both piano and guitar. Along with his love of music and poetry he had a lifelong love of Eastern Philosophy which he has passed on to his children. The family would like to thank all of the friends at AA and through the community for their support and kindness. Our Dad, Dr. Michael Guzzardo will be deeply missed. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., West, 536 West 10th St., on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until the time of a Service of Remembrance to be held there at 8:30 p.m. The Rev. Theresa Wise will lead the service. As per the request of the Guzzardo family, Dr. Guzzardo’s cremated remains will be scattered over Chautauqua Lake. Whenever I saw Mike he had this smile on his face - like the cat that ate the canary - he had the ability to light up the room. I don't understand the why of his last few years - but it remains a lesson to me to appreciate the precious present. I will miss you Mike

We have only met and spoken to Dr. Guzzardo on one occasion when my son accidentally hit his car with a scooter. Michael ran out initially when he saw what happened and both he and his father were very concerned as to whether our son was ok. Dr. Guzzardo was not one bit concerned about a scratch on his car, his only concern was our son. What a wonderful first impression. Please accept our
condolences.
