Norbert Lopez Obituary

Norbert H. Lopez Accomplished Ornamental Iron Craftsman Norbert H. Lopez, age 55, a lifelong resident of Erie died Wednesday January 5, 2005 at Hamot Medical Center. He was born March 25, 1949 in Erie, the son of the late Albert (Bid) and Ethel Mae Hull Lopez. Norbert was a 1968 graduate of Strong Vincent High School and worked for 18 years as an Erie County Prison Guard. He retired in 1997 to start his own business, Norb’s Welding. Norb was well known for his ornamental welding of wrought iron fencing and railings. He was also an avid outdoorsman, having been owner and captain of his own fishing charter boat, the “Trouble Hook.” He was also an animal lover and enjoyed NASCAR. Norbert is survived by his wife Debbie Zeiser Lopez. Two daughters; Stephanie Schaaf and her husband Brian and Linde Jo Lopez, all of Erie. Also survived by a brother Albert Lopez of Erie and his mother-in-law, Shirley Kennedy of Bradenton, Fla. Norb is also survived by six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th and Liberty St. Friday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. and are invited to attend Funeral Services there Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Memorials may be left with the family.

I am so sorry for your loss. I haven't known Norbert as good as wish but I heard a lot of great things from you, Linde. I know he was a good person and great Dad. Rest in peace Norbert.

I am so sad to learn of my friends death. We grew up together since his mother and my mother and father were very close friends. Norbert's parents were like my aunt and uncle. In fact I always called his dad uncle Bid. I will surley miss my friend.
