Sophie C. Osiecki, age 91, passed away Friday, August 11, 2017, at Fairview Manor, following a brief illness. She was born at home in the family's farm house in McKean, on January 25, 1926, daughter of the late Bronislaw and Stanislawa Szymanowski.

Sophie worked at Pulakos Candies as a young girl, then Buffalo Molded Plastics and retired from Haysite Manufacturing. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church in Erie.

Sophie enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, cooking, hummingbirds and house plants, especially violets. Even though she was Polish, Sophie made excellent spaghetti and meatballs, and her grandchildren LOVED her homemade pickles.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph F. Osiecki, Sr. in 2009; her son Joseph F. Osiecki, Jr. in 2010; eight brothers: Edward, John, Stanley, Thaddeus, Joseph, Walter, Romuald and Victor Szymanowski; and two sisters: Bertha Kiewice and Sylvia Kesselhon.

She is survived by her daughter Tania Leone and her husband Vincent; daughter-in-law Lynn Osiecki; sister Helen Gronostaj; sisters-in-law Dolores Osiecki and Jean Stebell; four grandchildren: Rebecca (John) Piasecki of Erie; Joseph (Amanda) Osiecki, III of Fairfax, Va.; Ryan (Nicole Bawol) Leone and Julie (Matt Orton) Leone, both of Erie; and two great-grandchildren Laurel Grace Piasecki and Porter Lee Osiecki.

Friends may call at Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, 2502 Sassafras St. on Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7p.m., and are invited to a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Our Lady of Peace Church. Send condolences to www.kloeckerfuneralhome.com
