It's not easy losing your longtime friends, and Mr. Zaphiris is no exception. I worked under Bill's tutelage for a couple of years, and he taught me TONS. One of my fondest memories of the family was having a fountain coke at William and Mary's with my Grandfather, all such memorable, kind, friendly a people that exist anywhere. R.I.P friend.....

I will always remember this amazing man. He made my Easters and Christmas' and Valentine's days the absolute best! Without him and his amazing smile and creations the holidays in my childhood would be so much different. He is an absolute legend in this town and the smiles around the world he made with his chocolate. He might be gone in flesh but his legend will never die...

Bill was and will always be the biggest inspiration of my life. He was always a gentleman, a scholar and good friend since we first met in 1957. I was even lucky to have Bill as my Godfather, and I was never able to thank him enough for that. I have worked with Bill up to his retirement from Amsco and miss him tremendously to this day. God Bless you Bill. You were truly one of a kind.

I have such overwhelming fond memories of the Zaphiris family since we were neighbors and there was always a kid to play with but never have I met such a sweet, caring and devoted DAD! Mr. Zaphiris was so kind to me and then so kind to my boys when we came to town and made our required stop at the Ritz! He always filled a bag with a variety of the BEST chocolate anywhere and always made time to chat and catch up and give a warm hug. I loved that man! He was the best! You're all in my thoughts and prayers. With much love... Lisa

Aunt Margaret and Zaphiris cousins, got a video of the reunion on Facebook this morning and noticed Uncle Bill's obituary under neath . I'm so sorry for the loss of a great husband and father and uncle. I spoke to my brother Greg and since it's snowy on Thursday we won't make the trip to the funeral home since I 90 gets so bad when it's slippery. Please know we are thinking of you all with much love.

What a wonderful man Bill was. Heaven gained beautiful angel. It always amazed me that he could remember not only my kid's names but also when they were born. I will miss the 'candy man' (as my kids called him).

Dear Zaphiris family,
I worked with Bill at Erie Insurance. What a great man he was, endearing to all whom he met. He always talked about his family (he was so proud of all of you). Bill was delightful to talk to and spend time with, so kind and loving. He always brought in candy from the store and that was always a big hit. He was my friend and I am so very grateful that I had the opportunity to meet such a wonderful man. Please know that I am praying that God will comfort your hearts, uplift your spirits, and carry you through this time of sadness to a place of peace.

We have so many wonderful memories of Mr Zaphiris. He was generous beyond words! And so very, very kind. We were honored to have been able to work for him throughout the years. I felt honored to bake him his chocolate cake every year on his birthday, especially when he would hide it so he didn't have to share. Lol. We had so many wonderful conversations. He was a kind hearted gentleman and I feel so lucky I was a small part of his life. The entire Hall/Tripp family sends our deepest condolences.
