Terence Murphy Obituary
May 5, 1956 - July 2, 2024
Terence Allen "Terry" Murphy (68) of Birmingham, AL, passed away peacefully July 2, 2024, after a short battle with cancer.
He is survived by the love of his life, wife, Bonnie Arrington Murphy (38 years), of Birmingham; daughter and son-in-law, Mandy and Andy Wright, of Gadsden, AL; son, Allen Murphy of Birmingham; grandson, Charlie Wright of Gadsden, AL; brothers, Butch Murphy of Winder, GA, Mike (Rhea) Murphy of Eufaula, AL, and Jay (Kim) Murphy of Chapin, SC; as well as numerous nephews and nieces, Jessica (Casey) Walker of Asheville, NC, Meredith (Dan) Stanton of Pinehurst, NC, Magda (Phelix) Pelzer of Charleston, SC, James (Tricia) Murphy of Red Oak, TX, Patrick Murphy of Dallas, TX, Katie Murphy of Montgomery, AL, Emily (Colin) Copeland of Columbia, SC, Ameila Murphy of Raleigh, NC, and Elizabeth Murphy of Charleston, SC.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Maria Murphy of Eufaula, AL and sister-in-law, Sherry Murphy of Atlanta, GA.
Terry was born in Atlanta, GA, on May 5, 1956. The family moved to Eufaula, AL in 1967, where he made lifelong friends. He graduated from The Lakeside School where he was a star athlete in football and golf and was the individual state golf champion as a sophomore. He attended the University of Alabama and became a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. His passion for Alabama football and golf continued, winning numerous tournaments including the Bruno's Memorial Classic Pro-Am in 2003. Most of his professional career centered around the steel industry in numerous capacities.
A visitation will be held at Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 7340 Cahaba Valley Road, Birmingham, AL on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass following at 10:00 a.m. A reception will be held in the Parish Hall afterwards. Interment will be held at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Eufaula, AL.
Memorials may be made to Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 7340 Cahaba Valley Road, Birmingham, AL.
