Beate "Barb" (Petersilge) Laughman, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Hanover Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late John R. Laughman, Sr., together they shared 53 years of marriage before he passed away on November 25, 2010.
Born May 23, 1938 in Germany, she was a daughter of the late Alfongs and Gertrude Petersilge.
Barb was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; she cherished her family and loved the time she spent with her grandchildren. Barb was a traveler; she met her husband on a blind date and was engaged to him that same night. Barb and John started their family in Germany and after having their first child they left Germany in the 1950's to come to the United States and she obtained her citizenship in 1957 and the traveling continued while John was in the military. In 1976 they came to Hanover to settle down and raise their family. Barb enjoyed listening to music, loved her plants, and going to church; she was a former member of St. David's Lutheran Church and a current member of Hanover First Church of God. Barb enjoyed a number of different things in her life but most of all she loved her grandchildren; she was thankful for them because they made her feel 20 years younger.
Mrs. Laughman is survived by a son, Monroe Laughman of Hanover; a daughter, Karina R. Wentz and her husband, Derek of Hanover; a sister, Katharina R. Leushner of Hannover, Germany; grandchildren, Aaron and Megan Laughman both of Red Lion, and Kenny and Kimberly Wentz, both of Hanover.
In addition to her parents and husband, Barb was preceded in death by a son. John R. Laughman, Jr.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
