Daniel Mummert Obituary

Daniel S. Mummert, 92, died peacefully at his home in Jackson Twp., at 12:35 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2006. He was the husband of Martha H. (Boyce) Mummert, who preceded him in death on October 6, 2002. The funeral service for Mr. Mummert will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2006, at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, 9002 Orchard Road, Spring Grove, with Elders Steven Fodor and Robert G. Yohe officiating. Viewing will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery. Irwin Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Spring Grove, is coordinating the arrangements. Daniel was one of 12 children, and was born on July 13, 1914, in Jackson Twp., to the late Moses C. and Katie (Baublitz) Mummert. He retired in 1977, from the pulp mill department of P.H. Glatfelter Co. after 44 years of service. He was a member of the mill Quarter Century Club. He was also a member of the Spring Grove Area Senior Citizens Group and volunteered with the P.A.L. Lunch Program in Hanover. Mr. Mummert was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren. He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Dorothy A. Stough and her husband, Kenneth of Spring Grove; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, David N. Mummert of Spring Grove; and a sister, Margaret Sterner of Spring Grove. Daniel was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters; a granddaughter; and a greatgrandson. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, 9002 Orchard Road, Spring Grove, PA 17362. Memories may be shared at www.irwinfuneralhome.com

I didn't know Dan, but I know his grandaughter, Patti. She always spoke highly of him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Love you Patti!
