Edward Utz Obituary

Edward Albert Utz, 76, of Middletown Township, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004 at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media, Pa. He is the husband of Sylvia J. (Sanville) Utz. Born in Gettysburg, he is the son of the late Edward B. and Hazel (Shetter) Utz. He was a graduate of Shippensburg State College with a B.S. in education. During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army. He taught history at Media High School and was a basketball coach there before teaching at Penncrest High School after the merger. He retired in 1986 after 30 years of service to the students and Rose Tree-Media School District. In 2003 He was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame for Track. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Gregory Utz and Bradford Utz husband of Susan, both of Middletown Township and a grandson, Mark Utz of Middletown Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21 at the J. Nelson Rigby Funeral Home, Baltimore Ave. & Jackson St., Media, Pa. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A graveside service and committal will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at Evergreen Cemetery in Gettysburg.
