It is hard to believe 10 years have passed. I have such wonderful memories of George, being in band together, driving to school the last two years together and our parents being the best of friends through our childhood years.. He would be so proud of his children and would LOVE all his grandchildren.. RIP MY FRIEND GeorgeKim ... Miss you

Dear Diane,George,Lucille,Doug & Lisa,

As I recall some moments from my distant past, I remember with fondness of my relationship with Kim. With the great distance (McSherrystown to Littlestown)and age difference (he being eight years younger)we only interfaced during his visits to Grandma Spanglers house and our all too infrequent visits to George and Lucilles house in Littlestown.

We had an opportunity to reconnect during my research into family Genealogy. I first received an email from him late January of 2005. We met again at a family funeral and strengthened our need to stay in touch.
As he filled me in on his challenge, he became a pillar of strength for Carol, my wife, as she started her similar challenge. We received an email from Kim the day before Carol's second surgery.

Bless You, Diane, for all that you are and all you were to Kim. Bless the extended family and the Granddaughter which made him so proud.

Thoughts and Prayers,
Cousins

So sorry to hear of George's passing. He was a class act both inside and outside of the classroom. We were so lucky to have "Mr. Wherley" as Ryan's 4th and 5th grade math teacher at Alloway Creek (2004-2006). He was Ryan's (and his parents) favorite math teacher to date (from his teaching skills to his appearance, always in a tie...a true professional)!

We will always remember George for his kindness, character, strength, and great smile!

Please know that the Wherley Family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Diane and family,
A memory of George- One time at a workshop, which involved K-12 teachers from Littlestown, we were asked to partner up with someone and then "tell about" that person to the rest of the group. When it was my turn to introduce George, I just smiled and said, "This is George, is there anyone here who does not know George?" Not one hand went up. George was known and loved by all. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Diane, Doug, and Lisa:

The pictures at Kim's funeral were a testimony to the extraordinary life that you shared with him, as his loving wife and devoted friend, and as his children who were shown a beautiful example of an authentic role model. At the center of his life was God and his family. He was so proud of both relationships. Kim knew of his parents (George and Spang) love for him, and he returned that love in kind. Kim drew his strength and his love from God, and from his family, especially you, Diane. Hold onto those precious memories that will fill the void on the lonely days ahead. Remember, too, that many people continue to pray for you all, and that friends/family are but a phone call away. May the newest angel with all of the heavenly cohort bring you peace and comfort, as our Heavenly Father warms you with His grace and love.

Our love always,

Tom and Rose

Mrs. Wherley, Doug & Lisa,
I wish there were words that could fill the void and heal the pain you must be suffering, but only time will ease the pain. Instead I will pray that God may bring you comfort and peace of mind in knowing that Mr. Wherley is resting with God now; no more pain, no more suffering. He was an extraordinary individual, inspiring teacher and mentor, and a loving father, husband, son to a family he thought the world of. I will never forget the countless days I spent in his classroom; his caring demeanor and dedication to his students left a lasting impression on me, which inspired me to be the best I could be, in everything I do. Mr. Wherley made impact on my life, early in my educational career, and shaped who I have become today. I am eternally grateful for what he has done for me.
I am extremely sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers have been with you since Mr. Wherley became ill, and I will continue to pray for your family during this most difficult time. I pray you may find comfort in knowing he is at peace now, among the Angels.
With Love and deepest sympathy,
