Gordon Shank

Hanover - Gordon D. Shank, 64, of Hanover, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. He was the husband of Cathy (Sheffer) Shank to whom he was married for 40 years.

Gordie was born November 23, 1953, in Chambersburg, PA, the son of the late Elwood Shank and Eleanor (Rine) Schrum.

Gordie was a 1972 graduate of Hanover High School and retired from Hanover Direct in 2013 after 35 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing with his fishing buddies and hunting with his brother-in-laws and nephews on "the Farm" where he had so many fond memories. Gordie was a member of the Codorus Creek Fly Fishing Club, Trout Unlimited and The Republican Club of Hanover. He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, Hanover.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Ryane Hill and husband Eric; two beloved grandchildren, Frankie and Jack; sister, Kimberly Kessler and husband Randy and their son Dwight; step-father, Sam Schrum; step-brother, Brian Schrum and his family; mother-in-law Delores Sheffer of Dover, Pa and numerous sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 12 noon at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover with Rev. Peg C. Grzelkowski officiating. The family will receive friends and share memories from 10 AM until the start of the service Monday at the funeral home. The burial will be held privately.

Contributions in memory of Gordon D. Shank may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1004 North Juniata Street, Holidaysburg, PA 16648 or to Trinity United Church of Christ, 116 York Street, Hanover, PA 17331 or to Caring Hospice Services, 101 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.

I remember when you pursued Gordie and being with you driving around Hanover looking for him,lol !! Your wedding day was a beautiful event and I was proud to be a part of it.
