Another chapter of life has been closed. Hazel Hoffman meant so much to my Dad as they served on the Bermudian Springs School Board together and she meant so much to me through friendship and support as a local politico of East Berlin during my era in county politics! My heart goes out to Jacque, Sally, Deb, Randy and the rest of the Hoffman family. Hazel was a superior woman who cared, worked hard, and she put her wares on the line in so many instances to try and better her community, county, family, and faith. There are not many like her and her loss will be felt. I'm sorry for finding out about her passing so late to miss her funeral but we were tending to the after-effects of a similar loss upstate this past weekend. To the Hoffman family, hold tight to each other. She would expect no less! Again, my sympathy to each of you!

Hazel was such a sweet woman! Karl and I will always remember her reading the love chapter out of 1 Corinthians at our wedding! As she read the passage, I felt the love that came from her heart and knew that she truly believed every word that she was reading. I also think of her sweet hugs that she gave us in church on Sundays as Karl would get on his knees to make it easier for her. She inspired us to get back into church when we were not attending very often. She will be missed dearly on earth but know that in heaven she is dancing and singing with our Lord and Saviour!

Uncle Jack, Aunt Sally and Debbie,

What fond and wonderful memories I have of Hazel, and of Floyd . . . family picnics and holiday gatherings at your house. Such kind souls they were to us kids then. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers today. God bless you.

Have known Hazel ever since I was a little girl, living on Locust Street. My daddy, Donald Miller, drove truck for Pennwood, so needless to say, Hazel was an important part of our lives!
Joe and I visited her just before we moved to Lancaster Co. We enjoyed that visit very much. It will remain in our memories for a very long time.
Blessings to Jacque, Sally, Deb, and the rest of the family, as you adjust to life here, without your/our dear little Hazel, who was loved by all of East Berlin!!
Sincerely, Carol Fretz

Jack and Sally - and all the family, I am so sorry to learn our girl has taken her leave and gone on to her heavenly home. I know she was ready, but it is still with a sad heart we let her go. It was an honor and a privilege to know her and call her my friend. She will always be a treasure in my life. I sincerely hope the Lord will give you peace at this difficult time. And as a note with a smile...I am sure she and Thelma will find a golf cart and park it in a shady spot from time to time and watch over us all...our rock stars. Love and prayers to you all.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
