Kenneth Runk Obituary

YORK Kenneth E. Runk, 88, passed away on June 10, 2015, at Memorial Hospital in York. He was the loving husband of Lorraine Stambaugh Dubbs Runk; together they shared 18 years of marriage. Ken was born in Spring Grove on October 22, 1926, and was the son of the late Clarence L. and Marcella I. (Senft) Runk. He attended the Spring Grove School District and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked as an independent truck driver for over 40 years and retired in 1994. He was a member of the York VFW Post #7374 and the Teamsters. He was an RV enthusiast, a NASCAR fan, loving Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and also enjoyed hunting. He was a member of St. Jacobs United Church of Christ in York New Salem and attended West York Church of the Brethren. In addition to his wife Lorraine, he is survived by his sons, Bradley Runk and wife Donna of Spring Grove and Gregory Runk of York; his daughter, Sandy Quigley and husband Randy of York; his stepson, Rodger Dubbs and wife Kay of Spring Grove; his stepdaughters, Barbara Mummert and husband Larry of Hanover, Linda Deveney and husband Jeff of Glen Rock, and Norma Danfelt of York. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sheri Shortlidge, Kelly Rice and Tara Sowers; eight great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Cathy Shelley. A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rev. Gregory Jones and the Rev. Rick Stuempfle officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at St. Peter Lischey's Cemetery in Spring Grove, with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Viewings will be held on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to American Lung Association, 3001 Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill PA 17011. Condolences may be shared at www.irwinbeck.com

I cut his hair at great clips. I am so so so extremely sorry to hear this. It brinhs tears to my eyes. My prayera go out to his entire family whom he talked about with great joy to me. You will be greatly missed. Bye kenneth you were a wonderful person

Sandy, Kelly, and family,
Ken was my father in law, he welcomed me into his home and family. Pearl, Sandy, Greg, and Brad all welcome me. over the years many things had changed but I want to say thank you for your love for Kelly, with always open arms. You will be truly missed by many. You have fun until we all meet again.
