Randolph V. Thiec, 65, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016, at the Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Dr. Maureen C. (Dell) Thiec, to whom he was married 46 years.
Born October 26, 1950, in Hastings, Pa., he was the son of the late Pierre "Peter" and Mary (Bott) Thiec.
Randy was employed at Guardsmark Security of Frederick, Md. He enjoyed hunting, his dogs, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Randy proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era being assigned to the U.S.S. Dewey, U.S.S. Sampson, and U.S.S. Capodonno.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four children, Michele Thiec of Washington, D.C., Brent Thiec and his wife, Leanne of Stoneboro, Keith Thiec and his wife, Rebecca of York, and Devin Thiec of Glenville; six grandchildren, Jaina and Mara Jade Thiec, Michael and Kenneth Marshall, and Cole and Ellison Thiec; and two sisters, Nancy Null of Florida and Donna Williamson of Nanty Glo. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Robert Thiec and Rosalie Null.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2016, at St. Joseph Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, with the Rev. Ryan M. Fischer as celebrant. Burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Friends and relatives will be received Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with a prayer service held at 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Randy may be made to Delone Catholic High School, Tuition Assistance Program, 140 S. Oxford Ave., McSherrystown, PA 17344.
