Richard Staub Obituary

GLENVILLE Richard P. Staub, 67, died unexpectedly of natural causes, Saturday, March 24, 2012, at his home. He was the husband of Patricia M. (Mathias) Staub, with whom he celebrated a 26th wedding anniversary on May 25, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Thursday at New Hope (Fissel's) UCC Church, 3426 Fissel's Church Road, Glen Rock, with the Rev. Paula Murray, pastor of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church, officiating and with full Military Rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock and from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday at the church. Mr. Staub was born on May 5, 1944, in York, a son of the late Dorothy (Reinfreid) and Russell Staub, Sr. He was a 1962 graduate of York Catholic High School and retired in 1982 after 20 years of service in the U.S. Air Force, where he was a First Sergeant with a Missile Silo Crew with whom he received a medal for shooting a missile closest to a target. He also had been employed as a Electronics Technician with Mazak Co., in Kentucky for 20 years retiring in 2008. He was a member of New Hope "Fissel's" United Church of Christ and of the West York VFW Post 8951. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, P. Denise Bankert of Glenville and Catherine E. Crooks of Vancouver, Wash.; a son, Michael D. Martin of Belleville Ill.; seven wonderful grandchildren and three wonderful great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Dravk of York; two brothers, Russell Staub Jr. of Arizona, Ronald Staub of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406.
