On February 21, 2018 Robert Ernst passed away suddenly in his home in Glendale AZ. He was born on September 18, 1937 to John A. and Mary Leona (Essick) Ernst.
Living through the depression John and Loni instilled a work ethic in Bob that was the foundation that allowed him to become such a great provider for his family. Bob was a 1955 graduate of Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown. After graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Tucson, AZ, were he eventually meet his wife of 60 years, Lydia Higuera. Lydia was a recently widowed with three young girls. They were married on September 23,1957.
They started their life together with three little girls, Lupita, age 4, Lydia age 3, and Betsy age 2. Bob is also survived by three sons, Robert Jr., John, and Phillip; ten grandchildren, Damian, Alana, Anthony, Bobby, Michael John, Patrick, Michael Scott, Thomas, Brennan and Kasey; six great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kaley, Jaden, Sabrina, Anthony Jr., and Vincent. Bob is also survived by three brothers and one sister in Hanover. They are James, John, Daniel, and Julie.
As Bob's family grew he began working as a salesman for Thom McAn Shoe Stores. Bob was quickly promoted to Manager in Albuquerque, NM. Bob was again promoted to District Sales Manager in Phoenix, AZ and eventually was promoted to Regional Sales Manager and relocated to Lake Forest, CA. Bob loved to fish, played Bridge and especially play golf which he excelled at and was the head of the foursome with his three sons up to the final days of his life. He was loved and will be missed by all.
