Wayne was my instructor for Basic Firefighter training back in the 1970s. He helped train and guide a lot of us that started our fire service careers as a volunteer and then went on to become career firefighters. RIP Wayne.

God, take care of " Uncle Wayne". No he wasn't blood related as an uncle but our parents being best friends 60 +yrs ago that's what he was to me.
I remember all the cherished, loving, fun, exciting times we shared together. All the way from in Woodlawn to East Berlin. Dad & him crabbing, as a young child learning what and eating my first fried soft crab which I STILL love, him teasing us with with the caught crabs or if one got loose, being so scared, running so fast. Be being respectfully ornery with Aunt Faye.
and also heading into Ocean City for a day with, Lesa, Paul, & Barry.
Those are just some of the amazing best time memories I will forever hold onto smiling while I think
Learning, God called him to his eternal home, my 1st reaction was those of tears & heavy heart, but then the memories above sat in. I immediately smiled, reading all the tributes on FB.
Lesa's post was so beautiful. Though I haven't seen any of the Thayer family in a very long time, when God created Uncle Wayne, there has never been too many others similar. For he didn't have many if any flaws that I remember. His heart was endless, he loved everything and everyone. His legacy will last forever..
To Aunt Faye, Lesa, Paul & Barry: I've prayed let God wrap his never ending long arms around you & provide comfort & strength during this difficult time.
All my love from me & my family.
Love " Corkey".
