Billy Gilliland Obituary

Mr. Billy Guy Gilliland, 65, of Dewey, died at 12:08 P.M. on Saturday May 18, 2013 at his residence.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013, with Mr. Rick Yocham officiating. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Full Military Honors will be presented by the members of the Bartlesville American Legion James H. Teel Post #105. Casket Escorts for Mr. Gilliland will be Bruce Hinkle, Dennis Hodges, Brad Gilliland, Bud Gilliland, James Gilliland, Rick Shipley, Little Terry Postrach, and Devin Gilliland. Honorary Casket escorts will be Heather Lanphear, Jake Lanphear, Tyler Owens, Sarah Owens, Houston Shipley, Dusty Gilliland, Worm Shipley, Vincent Lanphear, Larry Fincher, Kurt Shipley, Chris Peak, and Jeff Peak, and Justin Shipley.
The family will receive friends and have a Visitation on Tuesday evening May 21st, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Stumpff Home Chapel. Funeral Services and interment will be under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mr. Gilliland was born on December 19, 1947 at Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Frank Irwin and Gertrude Maxine (Johnson) Gilliland. He grew up and received his education at Bowring, Oklahoma where he graduated High School with the Class of 1967. Following his graduation he entered the U.S. Army in served with the Army during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts, during which he was seriously wounded receiving the Purple Heart Medal, and served there until his honorable discharge in May of 1979. He was married to Deryl Crook on June 6, 1969 at Arlington, Texas. After his discharge from the Army they made the home in the Copan and Dewey area where he was self employed as a rancher. He was active in his younger years in calf roping, and team roping. He was dedicated to his family, and in particular loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Gilliland is survived by his wife Deryl Gilliland of the home in Dewey, by three daughters; Dana and husband Vincent Lanphear of Barnsdall, Kelly and husband Worm Shipley of Copan, and Billie Jo "B.J." and husband Justin Jester of Crowder, Oklahoma, by three brothers; Charles Gilliland and wife Ann of Wann, Ronnie Gilliland of Grove, and Sammy and wife Laurie Gilliland of Prue, Oklahoma, three sisters; Frankie Peak of Sand Springs, Jeanie and husband Allen Hazelrigg, of Osage, Oklahoma, and Tammy and husband John Rubin of Sand Springs, by five grandchildren; Heather Lanphear, Jake Lanphear, Tyler Owens, Sarah Owens, and Houston Shipley, a special nephew and his wife Bradley & Angela Gilliland, a special family friend James Owens, and two brother-in-laws Bobby and Jimmy Crook. Mr. Gilliland was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother Thomas Gilliland, and a niece Karyn Gilliland.
