Duane Lester Obituary

Duane D. Lester, a longtime resident of Morris, passed away on June 17 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 72. Duane was born on May 17, 1940 in Purcell, OK to Carl Dexter Lester and Susie Bacon Lester.
Duane grew up in the Purcell, OK area and attended school in Washington, OK, where he graduated from High School. Duane completed his college bachelors degree and then moved on to Oklahoma State University where he earned a Masters degree. He worked many years for the OSU Extension offices in Jay, Okmulgee County and Osage County offices. He was a member of the Lions Clubs of Okmulgee and Pawhuska, a member of the Elks Lodge of Okmulgee, and a member of the Morris United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golfing as often as he could, writing poetry, reading, and most all sporting events.
Duane was preceded in death by his mother, Susie Lester; his father, Carol D. Lester; and his brother, Gayland Lester.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lester of the home in Morris; by three brothers, Jim Lester and wife Carolyn of Broken Arrow, by Bill Lester and wife Patti of Purcell, and by Rick Lester and wife Ginger of Houston, TX; by three children, Marlene Shave and husband Doug of Canada, Craig Lester and wife Kathy of Washington state, and Rhonda Diaz and husband Mike of Texas; by three step-children, Darla Matlock and husband Mike of Prague, OK, Janice Daniels of Pawhuska, and Vickie Radford of Morris; by 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, extended family members and many good friends.
Viewing and visitation will be held at Integrity Funeral Service on Tuesday from 2pm until 8pm and on Wednesday from 8am until 8pm.
A funeral service for Duane will be held on June 21 at 10 a.m. at the Morris United Methodist Church with Rev. Crystal Hughes officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Morris Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
