Floyd Dowell Obituary

Floyd Gene Dowell, 81, resident of Dewey, died at 3:35 a.m. on Thursday in the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Dewey Church of Christ with Mr. Robert Hamm officiating. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
A memorial has been established and those who wish to make a contribution in memory of Mr. Dowell may do so to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis Tennessee 38105.
Floyd Gene Dowell was born April 17, 1928 at Springfield, Colorado to Grover Marcus and Laura (Richardson) Dowell. He was raised and received his education in Las Animas and Springfield, Colorado. Mr. Dowell entered the U.S. Army on November 13, 1946 and was honorably discharged on March 17, 1948. He was married to Minnie Rozell Painter in September 24, 1949. They lived in Colorado and Oklahoma. Mr. Dowell was employed in wholesale grocery sales in Cannon City, Colorado and also worked there as a prison guard. Mr. and Mrs. Dowell moved to Dewey, Oklahoma in 2005 to be near family. They were members of the Dewey Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters Linda Banks and her husband Mike of Dewey; and Patti Barnes of Bartlesville; two sons Jerry Dowell and his wife Vicki Ringeisen of Oklahoma City, and Steve Dowell of Bartlesville; two brothers Arthur Dowell of Springfield, Colorado and Lloyd Jack Dowell of Skiatook, Oklahoma; one sister Lucille Deeds of Springfield, Colorado. Also a mother-in-law Loy Boling, a brother-in-law Lee Painter, grandchildren; Shannon and Dan Yocom, Jamie and Christy Banks, Justin Dowell, Nichole and Aaron Glover, Torrey Barnes, Cody Barnes, Ami and Jason Roddy and Jessica Dowell; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Dowell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rozell; two grandchildren Heather Dowell and Ryan Barnes; eight brothers and one sister.
