I am deeply saddened to hear of your loss. I am also a former student of Mr. Westfall's at Dewey High. I will always remember the first time we met him. He opened class by drawing the M R snakes joke on the board!! What a great man, and very entertaining individual!! Made class a blast with his style of teaching!!

Barbara. Roger and I want to extend our deepest sympathy to you and your children. We still remember many happy times when we were neighbors. From the obit it sounded as if John had a tough time and I am sure he handled it well. Jeanne

It was a great honor to know Mr. Westfall and have him as a substitute teacher at Dewey High School. He always told funny stories and made us laugh. He will be truly missed!

John was a great friend and colleague in the Lions Club and Scouting. I'll never forget his smile and constant enthusiasm for everything good. The world has lost a true gentleman, but his example lives on in the many lives he made better by his example.

It was an honor to have him substitute in classes I was in while attending Dewey High School. He was always knowledgeable about different areas, and was always willing to share his stories with those who would listen.

I met John about 30 years ago during our employ with Phillips Petroleum Company. He was very personable and friendly with me from day one. I always, always cherished our meetings; he was always good-humored and informative. I also had the privilege of witnessing his love for youth and sharing his teaching propensity.
My prayerful thoughts are with the family bereft of such an impressive citizen.

John was a very dear man. When we were somewhat new to St. Luke's. My twin sons were in a scout troop that met at St. John's Catholic Church. My sons were interested in completing their 'God and Country' lessons for Boy Scouts. I went to Fr. Williams and he talked with John about doing this for my sons. John was very glad to help. To complete the God and Country lessons. The boys had to met with John several times and they learned all about the history of the church and what that meant to our country. John was always very animated in his stories and my sons just loved going to meet with John. They forged a great friendship. When the boys completed this John presented their pins and patches to them during a Sunday service. My boys have treasured that for years.
My sons would see him at the grocery store and they would always have to say hello to John. This greeting would start a huge discussion about whatever John wanted to talk about and we would all get engrossed in his talk.
John was a very sweet man always interested in what was going on in your life also. He could listen as well as he could converse with you.
John will be greatly missed, I know by his family and mine. But we will meet again in the mighty kingdom of God the Father. John has gone home and will be waiting for us when we will meet again. Thanks Be To God!!

John was wonderful substitute teacher. John loved being around young people. He would bring his many stories of his travel and of his adventures. My students at Dewey High School have benefitted from his many travels in my geography classes. He will be truly missed. God has blessed us all, to let us know his angle John.

I was priviledged to know Mr. Westfall through our membership on the Cherokee Council Executive Board. He was a man of great grace and vision. This was translated into helping young people achieve their dreams. He will be missed and remembered.
