Larry Earl Read

1941 - 2013

Larry Earl Read, 71, passed away on March 7, 2013 following an extended illness.
The youngest of four children, he was born in Tulsa on March 20, 1941 to Earl and Mamie Read.
Larry served in Vietnam in the United States Army as a decorated pilot. He married Donna Griffith in 1968, and had two daughters, Shannon (Read) Streller and Regan (Read) Wilds. Larry flew for Phillips Petroleum Company before retiring in 2003. Known for his honesty, groundedness, and hard work, Larry was a devoted husband to his wife and a precious father to his girls. His intelligence, clever wit, strength of character, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed. A true gentleman, he loved spending time with his family, and treasured the value of a true and honest friend.
He is survived by his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and sisters Earlene Varney and Virginia Short, and many other beloved family members and friends.
There will be time for visitation with his family at Stumpff Funeral Home in Bartlesville on Thursday, March 14th from 6-8 pm. The memorial service will be held on Friday, March 15th at 12:30pm at Fellowship Bible Church, 5434 E. 91st St., Tulsa, 74137. There will be a reception at the church following the service, with a graveside service to follow at Woodland Memorial Park in Sand Springs.
