Leroy Allison Obituary

Dr. Leroy "Scott" Allison, D.O., 62 of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Choctaw Nation Health Care Center in Talihina, Oklahoma.
Dr. Allison was born on October 16, 1949 in Atkinson, Nebraska to Joseph L. and Phyllis E. (Brown) Allison. He grew up in many places as his father was in the U.S. Navy and stationed at several locations over the years. After receiving his high school education he served in the U.S. Air Force and later in the Army Reserves.
On September 5, 1970 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kathleen Morgan in Coffeyville, Kansas. The couple made their home in Wichita, Kansas while Dr. Allison continued to serve his country and further his education. He received his Doctoral Degree becoming a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. There were several different locations that he had a private practice before settling in the South East Kansas, North East Oklahoma area since 1997. His most recent office was in Dewey, Oklahoma.
He cared deeply about his practice, his patients and his family. He enjoyed music, horses, working on cars and building houses. He was never without a project or two. He was known as a "Jack of all trades" and for giving folks a hard time. He was always helping others. Most of all he enjoyed his time with friends and family.
Surviving to honor his memory is his wife, Kathleen of the home; son, Joseph Allison and wife, Malarie of Tyro, Kansas; daughters, Melissa Totherow and husband, John of Tinker Air Force Base, Melanie Stevens and husband, Justin of Claremore, Oklahoma; brother, Andrew Allison of Portland, Oregon; sisters, Jennifer Keim and husband, Frank of Fairbanks, Alaska, Catherine Wiebe and husband, Mike of Springfield, Oregon and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jospeh and Phyllis and an infant sister, JoNell Allison.
The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Tyro Christian Church; these may be left with the funeral home. To leave a special message for the family online, visit www.PenwellGabelCoffeyville.com

Scott was my lunch buddy in Eagle Grove, Iowa. We would eat fried foods and other things we shouldn't have. I remember the old Jeep he bought, and spent a lot of time putting in a new engine. He was a carpenter and a mechanic and a musician and a vocalist and a good friend. My condolences to Kathleen and the kids. Lord bless you all.

Dr. Scott was a dedicated physician, and I will miss his mentoring in the alternative health field. Doc taught me to use gelco's instead of butterfly needles. I had never thought of balancing the pH of an IV solution using NaBicarb, mixing Vit. C with H2O2 to form peroxyabscorbate before administering in order to prevent oxidation of a patients vein. Doc thought of things that no one else thought through. He made the difference by observation, and passed on his nuggets of knowledge to the rest of us. When I had a case to cumbersome to feel like handling it alone, or just wanted a sympathetic ear, Doc would be available. I'm going to miss him.
