Pamela Smith Obituary

Pamela "Pam" Smith, 62, longtime Dewey resident, died Thursday in Dewey, surrounded by her loving family.
Pam was born to Paul and Marjorie (Niblack) Boyd on July 28, 1954, in Pawhuska, OK. The family moved to Dewey when she was five and she attended Dewey schools, graduating high school with the class of '72. She soon met the love of her life Tom Smith at a party and they tied the "true love" knot on Nov. 17, 1976, in Bartlesville. Pam and Tom continued to make their home in Dewey where they raised their four children. While the kids were young she stayed at home to care for them. Once they were older Pam worked outside the home at Hughes Lumber, H&H Food Store and for the past 21 years at the Dewey Public Schools as a bus driver, teacher's aide and in the cafeteria.
Pam was a devoted wife, mother and daughter. She cared for her father in her home for many years, raised everyone's children and loved them dearly, and supported her husband throughout his career as a firefighter and duties at the Okla. State Firefighters Association. Pam was also a member of the OSFAWA Okla. State Firefighters Association Woman's Auxiliary, serving on its board from 2004-'08. She served as its president in 2007 and was honored with the OSFAWA Woman of the Year award for 2017.
Pam's passions in life were her kids and grandkids. She attended sporting events they were playing in and on more than one occasion had a differing opinion from the referees and made her opinion heard. Pam was active in the kids' Future Farmers of America (FFA) events, helping them raise many animals over the years and even substitute taught the AG class when needed. She loved music and Elvis was her favorite artist. Her iPod collection spanned 3 iPods and thousands of her favorite songs. Her passing leaves a huge void in the lives of those that loved and knew her, and her memory will live on in their hearts forever. Pam's family wish to convey their heartfelt thanks to Cornerstone Hospice for their care during her illness.
Pam is survived by her husband Tom of the home; four children Lisa Harris and Terry of South Coffeyville, OK, James Smith and Sherri of Dewey, Jon Smith of Dewey, and Cody Ratliff of Okmulgee; six sisters, Sharon Lockman of Hulah Lake, Carol Stoy of Winfield, KS, Paula Blevins and Danny of Hulah Lake, Betty Ratliff of Dewey, Kim Boyd of Dewey, and Sally Boyd of Dewey; five grandchildren, Derek Tampleton, Justin Messner, Madison Harris, Zane Corkery, Jacob Smith; one great grandson Rowan Hardiman; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother George Carter Boyd.
Visitation will be held on Saturday & Sunday 12-5. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a special fund for Pam's grandchildren by PayPal through [email protected]. Pam's family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Sunday, July 2, from 3-5 p.m.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, July 3, at the Davis Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplin Roger Sheppard officiating. Interment will follow in the Dewey Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared with Pam's family at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
