Harold Wilcox Obituary
Harold "Ken" Wilcox, 76, a resident of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 14, 2018 in Lee's Summit, Mo.
He was born on August 9, 1942 in Wichita, KS to Harold and Eleanor (Broadbooks) Wilcox. Ken graduated from Leoti High School in Leoti, KS, he received his Bachelor's degree from Sterling College and continued his education receiving his PHD in chemistry from the University of Southern California. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Kathleen Miller on August 20, 1966 in Pratt, KS. Ken was self-employed, starting Ken Wilcox Associates Inc. in 1990 and retired in 2016. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs, Association of Petroleum Explosives Administration (APEA) in the United Kingdom, Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) in the United States. Ken enjoyed photography, restoring cars, traveling, and shooting at the gun range.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Kathy Wilcox of Blue Springs, Mo.; son, Craig Wilcox and wife Precious of Blue Springs, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Russell of Kirkwood, Mo.; grandchildren, Skylar and Asher Wilcox of Kirkwood, Mo.; siblings, Ron Wilcox and wife Barbara of Derby, KS, Carolyn Dickson and husband Jim of Stafford, KS, Clay Wilcox and Janet of Scottsdale, AZ.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Eleanor Wilcox; son, Jeff Wilcox; niece, Jessica Wilcox; in-laws, Kenneth and Beth (Brenneman) Miller.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. -6:30 p.m., on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St, Blue Springs, MO. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs, 301 S.W. Woods Chapel Rd, Blue Springs, MO. Burial will immediately follow at the Blue Springs Cemetery.
