JEFF JOURNAGAN Obituary

JEFF JOURNAGAN Jeff Journagan, an entrepreneurial spirit who enjoyed his roles as son, husband, friend, and father, died peacefully on September 4, 2023. He was born August 3, 1949 in Newton, Mass. to his late parents, Roy Journagan and Jessie Reynolds. They later made him a big brother when Roy "Buzzy" Journagan came along. He was a lifelong resident of Eastern Jackson County, except for during his four years in the U.S. Air Force. One of those USAF stops was in Altus, Okla. and led to his marriage to Linda Ellis. Their union produced a son, Eric, and a daughter, Shawnna. The next decade or so was filled with soccer, pets, trips to see family, and moments to be fondly remembered by all. He later married Carol Durwood and slid into the role of stepfather, as she had two children, Bo Osborn and Kate Osborn. They also had a couple of pets, many good laughs, and played lots of board games. He greatly enjoyed having the kids together, if not to sit back and enjoy the show. For himself, Jeff was an avid gardener and fan of landscaping. Being outside amongst the trees was solace for him. You'd also find him working out, as fitness was a core activity throughout his life. But if it was winter, he'd be seated in a chair plowing through a new book series or watching some classic westerns. He is survived by his brother, Buzzy; son, Eric; daughter, Shawnna; niece, Lynn; stepson, Bo; stepdaughter, Kate; and granddaughter, Mikki (Bo). Preceded in death were his parents Roy and Jessie. Private services will be held for family, friends, and colleagues. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs, Mo.
