Joseph E. Halastik, 71, of Sugar Creek, MO, died February 24, 2026, after a long illness. Born in Sugar Creek in 1954, he owned and operated Halastik Trucking after retiring he bought land in Ridgeway, MO and became a cattle rancher. He returned home to Sugar Creek when his health declined. His family was there to help him throughout his illness. He is survived by sisters, Sharron (Mark) Mansfield and Debbie (Barry) Wimberly; brother, Mike Halastik; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He is reunited in death by his father, Edwin Halastik; mother, Donna Halastik; sister, Francis Daniel; and brother-in-law, Edward Daniel. Services will be held Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Independence, MO.
