Opal Zucca Obituary

Opal Zucca, 89 of Independence, MO passed peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2021. Opal was born March 18, 1931 in Humansville, MO.

She is preceded in death by her husband Herb with whom she fostered almost 500 children through the years. She is also preceded in death by her son Tim Zucca, daughter Marta Zucca, daughter-in-law Crystal Choate Zucca, grandson Colton Zucca and granddaughter Renee Zucca.

Opal leaves behind a son Wyatt Zucca, daughter Colette Kingston (husband Chuck), daughter Keisha Zucca (husband William) and sister Meta Rogers (husband JD). Opal has 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held at New Covenant Ministries Church, 532 S. Main Street, Independence, MO on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 9-11 a.m. Private family service following. Burial at Brooking Cemetery, Raytown, MO. We will be livestreaming the service via Facebook Live. If you plan on attending, masks will be required. If you are experiencing any symptoms, or believe you may have been exposed, the family requests you stay home and participate via live stream.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to House of Compassion, 13900 Southern Rd, Grandview, MO 64030 (compassioncare.org). This is a great organization that cares for fostered and at risk children.
