Rita Matejcek Obituary

Faribault - Rita Marie Matejcek, age 66, of Faribault, MN, died peacefully on March 6, 2025, at her home.

Rita, the daughter of Edward and Evelyn (Begin) Matejcek, was born on August 25, 1958. Rita was much loved by her parents and all her siblings. Actually, she was the favorite child and favorite sister. She had a strong mind of her own and let everyone know it.

Rita participated in Special Olympics, swimming, and bowling. She loved sports of all kinds, especially Bethlehem Academy basketball and volleyball, and of course her Minnesota Vikings and Twins.

Rita worked at the Rice County Activity Center for 40 years, an organization her parents helped start in the 1960s. She had so many staff over the years that she loved, and they loved her. Rita lived at Unity House for 30 years, and her family was grateful for every caring staff member.

She is survived by her siblings, Ann Matejcek, Mary Matejcek, Frank Matejcek, Jane Cashin (Rick), Stephen Matejcek, and Paul Matejcek; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends; and the staff members at Unity House and Rice County Activity Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Evelyn Matejcek; her brother, Matthew Matejcek; and grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Private family services will be held. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault.

Memorials may be directed to the Rice County Activity Center in memory of Rita.
