Ronald Lillard Obituary

Ronald Emmett Lillard

October 15, 1957 - July 10, 2025

On July 10, 2025, Ronald Lillard, also known as "Buzz", was called to his heavenly home.

He leaves behind his wife Suzy Lillard, stepson and best friend Steve Wood, stepdaughter Paula Wood, his sisters Bonnie Cameron and Jenny Presgraves, his brother Chris Lillard, and his nieces, nephews and cousins.

He also leaves behind his special friend Anna, a chocolate labrador who is waiting for him to walk back through the door at any time.

Ronald grew up in the Warren County and Front Royal area and settled in Warrenton in the 1980's. He was employed as a truck driver for the United States Postal Service for many years before making his decision

to make a living taking care of horses and working on farms. He helped raise thoroughbreds for 10 years and then moved to rescues, most recently working at a horse sanctuary in Marshall, Va.

A special thank you is extended to his boss and the wonderful people that he worked with. After a long struggle to regain his strength after a horse-related injury, working at his latest job was his salvation, filled him with new purpose and fulfilled his life immeasurably.

He was co-owner of 2 local businesses, Muddy Pawz Solutions and Maggiegirl Petsitting, both of which he operated with his wife. Another special thank you to all of his clients.

Maggie and Maddie, his departed labradors, were surely waiting at the gate when he arrived.

Ronald was an avid Commanders fan and was looking forward to going to games this year with Steve. He lived life to the fullest and was a genuinely caring and generous man who always served and supported others.

He will be deeply missed by many friends and family in the Warrenton and Front royal area, including many 4-legged ones. Always and forever LOVED and remembered until we meet again.

A private family memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Middleburg Animal Shelter in his name.
