Daisy Summers Obituary

FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Daisy Shearin Summers, 91, of Fayetteville, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Summers is survived by a daughter, Patricia Summers Koonce and husband Larry of Fayetteville; a grandson, Michael Koonce of Fayetteville; two brothers, John Shearin and wife Lucia of Creedmoor and Richard Shearin of Louisburg; and a sister-in-law, Betty Summers Neely and husband Jim of High Point. Mrs. Summers was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church and the Women of the Church. Mrs. Summers was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, John R. Summers. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Dec. 29, 2008. The burial is scheduled at 10a.m. in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. The funeral service will be conducted after the burial at 11a.m. in Highland Presbyterian Church. A visitation and reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Oxford Orphanage, Masonic Home For Children, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27563 or to a favorite charity. Services entrusted to Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service & Crematory of Fayetteville.

Patty, I am so sorry I did not realize your mom was sick. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Larry, & Michael. You know I always loved her and considered her my "other mother". She certainly looked out for the two of us when we were teenagers. She is such a special person and I will treasure her many kindnesses forever.
