Frances Thorne Obituary

Frances Graham Thorne
Fayetteville—Frances Graham Thorne passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019, at the age of 89.
She was born November 3, 1929, to W.A. Graham and Virginia Humphrey Graham of Cedar Creek, NC. She graduated from Stedman High School and attended Peace College in Raleigh.
Frances' life centered around God, family and friends. She was a loving wife and proud mother of three children and seven grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Hay Street United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Sunday school class and United Methodist Women. Frances served as ministerial assistant and church visitor under the direction of Hugh Cameron. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the NC State Wolfpack, an avid golfer and enjoyed playing the piano.
The family is very appreciative of the wonderful care she received from Home Instead Senior Care, Healthkeeperz Hospice Nurses and Volunteers and the staff of Carillon Assisted Living of Fayetteville. While Frances' memory may have faded; her sweet smile and loving disposition always remained and the memories that she left us will never fade.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Clarence Ray Thorne. She is survived by two sons, Ray Thorne II and wife, Shari, of Southern Pines, and Gary Lee Thorne and wife, Diane, of Fayetteville; her daughter, Paige Thorne Walker and husband, Richard, of Fayetteville; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 9, 2019, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Hay Street United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, with the Rev. David Blackman officiating. Interment will be at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street directly following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Hay Street United Methodist Church Building Fund, the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research or a charity of your choice.
