Larry Carroll Obituary

HILLSBOROUGH - Dr. Larry W. Carroll Sr., 81, of Hillsborough, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 6:15a.m. in Duke University Medical Center. He was a member of Hillsborough Baptist Church and a graduate of the UNC School of Dentistry. Dr. Carroll practiced dentistry in Hillsborough for more than 30 years. He was a member of Eagle Lodge No.19 A.F. & A.M. and served on the board of directors of Central Carolina Bank. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Betty Canady Carroll; his son, Larry W. Carroll Jr. of Hillsborough; two daughters, Cathy C. Laws and husband Jeff of Advance, and Marie C. Minnis and husband Dan of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Eric Minnis, Lisa Kate Elmore, Jeff Laws, Jon Laws, Alicia Stewart, Amy Carroll and Alexandria Carroll; and six great-granddaughters. He was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Murray Carroll; and his parents, Lonnie and Claudia Carroll. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, in Hillsborough Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Carter officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, in Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and doctors of Duke University Emergency Department and Neurology Department for their compassionate care. Memorials may be made to Hillsborough Baptist Church. Services entrusted to Walker's Funeral Home of Hillsborough. Online condolences may be sent to walkersfuneralservice.com.
