Mildred Savoy Obituary

WHISPERING PINES - Mrs. Mildred Rose Sumrell Savoy, 96, of Whispering Pines Nursing Home, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010. She was born Oct. 22, 1913, to the late Thomas Edward Sumrell Sr. and Annie Eliza Bonham. Church was a very important part of her life, and she was a devoted and longtime member of First United Pentecostal Church in Fayetteville. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Savoy; a son, Norman Faye Savoy; a great-granddaughter, Lisa Muhs; and two brothers, Robert Sumrell and Thomas Edward Sumrell Jr. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Bob Ellis of Stedman; and eight grandchildren and their families. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to First United Pentecostal Church, 2813 Cumberland Road, Fayetteville, NC 28306. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.

I will miss Sister Savoy. She truly was a sweet spirited lady. My last visit with her was particularly joyful as her voice was very strong and she was especially cheerful. My prayers are with all of you who will miss this dear lady.
