Robert Sears Obituary

SANFORD - Robert Harry Sears Sr., 72, of Sanford, passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, in his residence. Bob was an avid amateur ham radio operator, call sign W4WZR. He served in the Coast Guard and was a local firefighter in Keyport, N.J. He was an active parishioner in the Catholic Church and served as a third degree knight in Knights of Columbus Council No. 9847. A Catholic Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends at visitations held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Adcock Funeral Home & Crematory of Spring Lake. He is survived by his wife, Sally Sears; son, Robert Harry Sears Jr. and his wife, Colleen; daughter, Michelle A. Feeney and her husband, Sean; sisters, Patricia White and Sandra Trzaska; brother, Harry E. Sears Jr.; grandchildren, Ella Anne Sears and Julien Alexander Feeney; nieces, Kimberly Sears Sullivan, Magen Ann Sears and Ashley Sullivan; nephews, Patrick J. Sears, Edward Sears and Westley Sears; and his loving special companion, Mr. Buddy, his Jack Russell terrier. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 3131 Wrightsville Ave., Wilmington, NC 28403. Services entrusted to Adcock Funeral Home & Crematory of Spring Lake.
