It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ken Mirfield, a beloved great grandfather, grandfather, father and husband, who left us on July 2, 2024. Ken's life was a testament to resilience, hard work and the pursuit of the American dream.?Ken was born and raised in London, England, during the tumultuous years of World War II. Growing up during the bombings and air raids, he witnessed firsthand the devastation and hardship that war brings.?Despite these challenges, Ken's spirit remained unbroken. During this period, it left a mark on his childhood, shaping his character. Ken often spoke of Churchill's unwavering leadership, inspiring speeches and the hope he instilled in the British people during this period of his life.?In search of a better life, Ken embarked on a brave journey across the Atlantic Ocean to the United States. Arriving by ship, he spent his first few weeks in America living at the YMCA, a humble beginning for a man who would go on to achieve great success. Ken's early days in the U.S. were marked by hard work and determination. He started his career in the garment industry, a sector that played a crucial role in New York City's economy and culture.?Through perseverance and his work ethic, Ken climbed the ranks from a garment worker to the proud owner of his own business, Anglo Apparel Service. His company, located in the heart of the garment district (34th Street and Eighth Avenue), employed over 70 employees.?Ken's legacy extends beyond his professional achievements. His life story is a powerful reminder of the strength of the human spirit and the possibilities that arise from hard work and dedication.?In his final years, Ken found peace and contentment in sunny Florida. He settled in Amelia Island after over a decade in Kissimmee, where he spent his final days in the company of his wife, Eileen, and their cherished cat, Tiggles.?Ken never lost his New York spirit, often comparing the food, speed and vibrancy of Florida to the bustling life he knew in NYC. His stories and comparisons always brought a smile to our faces, reminding us of his deep connection to the city that played such a significant role in his life.?Our summers in Wildwood, N.J., hold a special place in our hearts. Ken cherished these times, creating countless memories with his family.?Ken is survived by his loving family, who will forever cherish his memory and the values he instilled in them. His journey from war-torn England to the heights of entrepreneurial success in America is an inspiration to all who knew him.?Rest in peace, Kenneth Mirfield. Your legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved you and in the stories of perseverance and triumph you leave behind.

Marie and I just learned of Ken's passing. We are deeply saddened by the loss of a good friend. We vacationed with him in Maui and Mexico. Our deepest condolences to Eileen and children. RIP Ken. Dear friends, Mike & Marie D'Aquino. Always enjoyed his humor and great sense of style.
