Barbara Wasmer Obituary

Barbara J. Wasmer

Barbara Wasmer, age 56, of Elkhart Lake, WI passed away on Sunday November 2, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Barb was born in Fond du Lac, WI on February 6, 1958 to the late Alfred and Marion Schmitz of Mt Calvary WI. She graduated from New Holstein Senior High School in 1976 and was married to her high school sweetheart and love of her life, William Wasmer on November 26, 1976.

Barb's biggest passion in life was her family. She was a devoted wife and mother of two beautiful daughters, Jennifer and April, and was blessed with three grandchildren, Henry, Lillian and Louis. Barb was also passionate about her career at Household Utilities Inc. where she was employed since 1991. Even through her illness, she continued to work as much as she could. In her words, "I love going to work". In her spare time, Barb loved gardening. Under her tender care, the flowers and plants blossomed and provided a haven for the many birds that came to visit her yard.

Barb is survived by her husband William Wasmer; two children, Jennifer (Michael) Ziegler of Milwaukee, WI and April (Heston) Thuecks of Sheboygan Falls, WI; three grandchildren, Henry, Lillian and Louis Ziegler. She is also survived by 7 sisters and 3 brothers: Fred Schmitz, Karen Mengel, Pat (Sharon) Schmitz, Cynthia Eiring, Mary (Butch) Gudex, Mike Schmitz, Angelle (Dave) Onsrud, Denise (Jim) Hess, Bernadette (Doug) Campbell and Anne Schmitz; and by her husband's family: Loretta Wasmer, Tom (Betty) Wasmer, Lisa (Steve) Julien, and Scott Wasmer.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Bettag and the staff at Matthews Oncology Associates, St Nicholas Hospital Hospice, and the many friends and co-workers for their loving care and support.

A memorial mass honoring Barb will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 5:00 p,m. at St Thomas Aquinas Church (94 N. Lincoln Street, Elkhart Lake. I had the pleasure of taking care of Barb several times while she was a patient at St. Nicholas Hospital. She was one of my favorites as she always had a positive attitude regardless of what she was going through. Such a courageous, kind, wonderful Christian woman. She loved her family dearly and was so proud of each of them. My sympathy to her entire family.
