Donald Balgie Obituary
Donald Balgie, 83, of Waupun, died Sunday, July 3, 2011, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
Don was born June 7, 1928, in Fond du Lac, Wis., the son of Fredrick and Viola England Balgie.
On Oct. 15, 1946, he married Beverly Beernink at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waupun.
Don was the owner and operator of Home Contractors in Waupun for 53 years.
He was an avid out-doorsman.
Don and his wife enjoyed many winters together in Texas.
Don is survived by his wife, Beverly, of Waupun; his children, Carol (Bill) Ninnemann of North Carolina, Cathy (Steve) Vande Kamp of Green Bay, Chris (Randy) Visser of Waupun, Susan (Dennis) Preuss of Illinois, Jo (Kevin) Winn of Waupun, Fred (Nancy) Balgie of Waupun, and Tom (Lynn) Balgie of Waupun; daughter-in-law, Val Balgie of Waupun; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Barry and Brian Balgie; his faithful companion, "Maxine," and two grandchildren.
SERVICES: A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waupun, with Fr. Mike Wild officiating.
VISITATION: Relatives and friends may call on the family on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun; and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
A private burial of his ashes will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
